Momentum Entrepreneurship Hub reimagines a former Salvation Army facility into a living-centered hub for innovation in South Bend, Indiana. Rooted in the city’s industrial legacy, the design bridges past and future through adaptive reuse. By preserving its mid-century architectural character, the project transforms the space into a flexible workplace that promotes dignity, connection, and opportunity for entrepreneurs from all backgrounds. Continua Interiors partnered with CannonDesign and Shive-Hattery to provide workplace strategy and furniture solutions.
Momentum wanted to create a welcoming and inspiring environment for people in the community to build a collaborative community. Entrepreneurs, creatives, small business owners, and remote workers in the South Bend area utilize the space for everyday work and special events. The Hub includes a variety of working spaces including open-office workstations, private offices, conference rooms, and a number of amenity spaces including a game room, event space, and bar. Each amenity space was uniquely designed to offer different energy to support a variety of work modes and preferences of its users. The event space can be rearranged in several orientations for co-working, a classroom, or an auditorium. Continua provided furniture for all amenity spaces including solutions from Herman Miller, Knoll, and Muuto.
Existing in a former Salvation Army building, Continua provided workplace strategy to utilize the space to its potential while keeping the history of the building apparent. Our team also assisted with furniture reuse to balance sustainability while furnishing a beautiful new and functional space. The multi-functional amenity spaces are dispersed throughout the office alongside private offices to encourage a natural flow leading to collaboration and connection. The thoughtfully designed Momentum Hub provides seamless functionality as a center for creativity and productivity. It celebrates diverse workstyles and creative expression, demonstrating how thoughtful interiors design can foster community.
