Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) desired an office that would foster the creativity of their team and offer a comfortable welcome to clients. For a leading design firm, the lasting impression of the workplace matters a great deal. Continua Interiors and SCB collaborated to select new pieces and repurpose existing furniture, shaping a space that radiates the beauty and confidence of the firm’s work.

Harnessing our extensive experience as workplace strategy experts, Continua Interiors selected pieces throughout the office that walk the line between sleek elegance and punchy personality. Each section of the space integrates a mix of new and repurposed pieces, as our team worked with MillerKnoll on reuse strategies that bring both environmental impact and a lasting sense of legacy to the space. An excellent example is the CEO’s office, where Knoll Reff casegoods with a custom marble credenza top provide a backdrop for a Nucraft Tova table desk and reupholstered Knoll Brno chairs.

Workspaces are outfitted with Knoll adjustable benching stations and reused Herman Miller Aeron task chairs and monitor arms. Davis Modo benching along the window perimeter is punctuated by Herman Miller Eames tables and Bernhardt Tour ottomans for a truly adaptable office space. Even in-between areas are used to their full potential, like the walkway with a custom Illinois Upholstery sofa bench accompanied by Knoll Studio Saarinen tables and elegant Platner chairs.

Of particular note is a room referred to by SCB as the “Jewel Box.” This warm and inviting space is made even more comfortable through the introduction of Knoll Studio Platner lounge chairs and side tables, a Bright Chair Company Elana daybench, and a custom coffee table.

Viewed as a whole, this collection of striking furniture pieces demonstrates an office operating at the height of efficiency. The cohesive but varied materials offer visual interest and multi-functionality, while the repurposed pieces speak to the company’s timeless vision. This is an office made for the forward-thinking teamwork and design excellence for which SCB is known.
